Former bike gang member Onizuka Eikichi, introduced by his friend Danma Ryuji, works part-time as a gardener at Meishu Academy. When he learns that Yoshikawa Noboru is being bullied, Onizuka befriends him and intervenes. Impressed by Onizuka’s unconventional problem-solving, the school’s president, Sakurai Yoshiko, appoints him as a teacher, despite opposition from Vice Principal Uchiyamada Hiroshi.
