When the Zangyack, an evil space empire determined to conquer the universe, attempted to invade the earth, the 34 Super Sentai made a big last stand to beat the Zangyack back and save the world once more. But in order to do that, they have to sacrifice their power by expelling them in one massive burst, destroying the Zangyack invasion fleet. One year later, as the Zangyack prepare to invade the Earth again, a group of space pirates arrive on Earth in search of The Greatest Treasure in the universe. However, when the Zangyack attacks, the pirates reveal themselves as the 35th Super Sentai team, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. But they don't just use their own powers, they also have access to all the powers of the previous. After beating back the Zangyack for another day, the Gokaigers lackadaisically go on their way to continue their search for The Greatest Treasure in the Universe, constantly dealing with new attacks from the Zangyack, past sentai members wondering how they have the old powers and parts of their own pasts along the way.
