Hao Nan, a 28-year-old former teacher turned pool hall owner, returns to teaching after his business fails. At Qingyun High School, he meets Ren Zhen, an 18-year-old student who failed the gaokao due to her unreliable father. After an initial meeting on the rooftop, Hao Nan uses his own experiences to encourage her.
