Seo Ji Yun, an art history lecturer aiming for a professorship, is assigned by her mentor, Min Jeong Hak, to write a thesis on a valuable painting, "An Gyeon’s Mount Geumgang." Her life falls apart when her husband becomes a fugitive over financial crimes, and she loses her job after failing to defend the painting's authenticity against a student's challenge. At her lowest, Ji Yun discovers the diary of Sin Saim Dang, a famed Joseon-era artist, revealing secrets about the painting.
